The GM Sports business today, founded and owned by Gerry Mauro, was originally created out of a love for the game and coaching his children. In the early 1980's, coaching his children became a passion. This passion gave birth to an unrelenting student of baseball and softball. Since Gerry became a businessman directly out of college and prior to coaching, his professional training and education forged an approach to the training of his children and others and the product supply of sporting goods that was unique in the industry. Everything about his training had a purpose and every movement or action involved time efficient and effective techniques.

It was because of his desire to always find or design products to improve performance that fostered the growth of his company. He is recognized across the USA and abroad for unique training products and methods. Many of the products GM Sports sells started back in the beginning and have been revised and revised to handle the ever changing game.

As the training business grew, so did manufacturers' calls wanting endorsements and Gerry to use their products. Even today, the only products GM Sports sells and uses are those he believes in to improve performance or satisfy a need in the game of a player, coach or parent. He is charged with the responsibility to seek out the best products in the game and the latest vanguard training. Over the years many manufacturers have sponsored his training and supported his work with special offers on pricing and products which he passes on to all his clients and customers. This is why today he is a unique team supplier.

His training and speaking continued to grow. He started writing books and articles primarily on Fastpitch Softball. Unrealized during the 1990's, but today he is very thankful that he had the opportunity to coach and train some of the best players in the world. Every time he watches them use the techniques or skills that he taught are thanks enough to continue his passion. He served on manufacturers' boards and professional organizations like the National Fastpitch Coaches Association allowing him to stay in the forefront of what is happening in the industry and coaching.
